Itinerary – 4 Days Sahara Desert Tour
Day 1: Marrakech → Ait Benhaddou → Boumalne Dades
Depart early from Marrakech and cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, stopping at panoramic viewpoints and Berber villages along the way. Visit the famous Ait Benhaddou Kasbah (UNESCO site), a historic fortress and film location for Gladiator and Game of Thrones.
Continue through Ouarzazate and the “Road of 1000 Kasbahs” before reaching the Dades Valley. Dinner and overnight in a local guesthouse in Boumalne Dades.
Day 2: Boumalne Dades → Todra Gorges → Merzouga Desert
After breakfast, drive through the Dades Valley to reach Todra Gorges, with cliffs towering 300 meters high – a paradise for hikers and climbers. Continue south through Erfoud, famous for its fossils, before arriving in Merzouga Desert.
At sunset, enjoy a camel trek across the Erg Chebbi dunes to reach your desert camp. Spend the night in a nomadic-style tent or under the stars, with traditional dinner and Berber music.
Day 3: Merzouga → Rissani → Draa Valley → Zagora
After breakfast, depart for Rissani, an ancient caravan trading post. Visit a fossil workshop and continue through the Draa Valley, famous for its palm groves and fortified villages.
Stop in Nkob for lunch before reaching Zagora Desert, where you will ride camels across the dunes and watch the desert sunset. Dinner and overnight in a camp or hotel in Zagora.
Day 4: Zagora → Tamegroute → Ouarzazate → Marrakech
